The Longest Night: Day 2

yesterday marked the beginning of Advent, which is the 4 weeks of preparation for the coming of Christmas.
ah, Christmas...the season of snow...of warm fireplaces...of hot chocolate...of woolly clothings...of blinking lights on pine trees...of stars...of presents chosen and wrapped with love...of cuddling up to the one you love and experiencing all these together...

the season...of love.

just saturday morning, i awoke to the blissful anticipation of the advent of Christmas, but sunday...ah sunday...i woke up wondering why the hell i did, wishing that Christmas did not have to come so soon, even if it meant turning the clock back a couple of months...especially if it meant turning the clock back a couple of months...

"expecting the unexpected"-- that was the message for Christmas from my priest at mass yesterday because--i qoute--even in sunny singapore, God can leave you "in winter wonderland, naked". crude imagery, but never more true. well honestly, i've had enough of the unexpected this year to last me a loooong time, so i really hope The Big Guy Up There will spare my heart and build me a little fire in my winter wonderland...

was just thinking while in the bath...what is the damn point in beautiful memories? what is the point in holding on to them if they serve absolutely no purpose except as reminders of a past that can never ever be recovered, much less re-lived, and promise of nothing but a future of walking round in winter wonderland, butt-naked, and alone? at least on the contrary, bad memories keep us grounded to an ugly past that is best left in the past, never to be repeated again...why treasure something that will only hurt incessently and bring increasing hopelessness with each passing moment?

bah humbag.
